Luciana Rondolini

Today I am loving the work of mixed media artist Luciana Rondolini.  She draws on the irony of manufactured beauty and the 'plastic' clone-like idea of modern day identity, utilising iconic imagery and famous faces such as Gaga and Beiber.

Juxtaposing the ugliness of rotting fruit with the beautiful aesthetics of jewels for her project ‘tiffany’.  Everyday fruits are encrusted with sparkle whilst areas of their rotting flesh remain revealed.  Food for thought....

Lorenzo Nanni

Lorenzo Nanni is an Italian Textile graduate living in Paris. His influences include the human body from birth until death as well as flora and fauna.  His handiwork includes such detail that you can repeatedly stare at it and the eye falls on something different each time.

Through the medium of embroidery and embellishment Lorenzo captures organic beauty by using clusters of beads, stitches and sequins which accumulate into sprawling, sculptural forms. He also creates smaller pieces depicting dramatic enlargements of flora and elements of the human body. For me, his works capture the mystical and sometimes dark elements of nature perfectly.

Chotronette

I stumbled upon the work of Chotronette today. Unique, fanciful and wearable creations. I love the way the collections have intriguing titles such as 'Frida-isnt-dead' and '
Notes on a Star-Stalking Muse'.

Chotronette is made up of a pair of best friends – Silvia Chiteala and Laura Cazacu from Romania who believe clothes are an expression of your personality not strictly trend based (hear hear!)

'we invite our clients to make a statement instead of floating along with popular trends. We dare you to have fun in our dresses, steal the limelight and be the queen bee with the outrageous dress they all love to hate'.

Their original tastes are also reflected in their photo shoots... MAGICAL.
